Until now all CO2 controllers were made to control daytime CO2 levels. This was fine to
control the plants diurnal photosynthesis and photo respiration rates but what about when
the lights go out. All C3 metabolism plants go through a nocturnal process called dark
respiration. Dark rerspiration is basically a multi-part process of creating energy by
oxidizing suguars. This energy is required for biosynthesis and several important
metabolism functions. It is critical to the overall plant growth rate. Nighttime CO2 levels in
excess of 900 PPM cause the stomata of C3 plants to begin to close, levels of 1200 PPM
and more totally inhibits dark respiration which consequently deprives the plant of the
energy required to achieve maximum potential. It is very common to find excessively high
nighttime CO2 concentrations in dense foilage growrooms, sealed growrooms and where
pilot burners are used. It is possible to control the plants dark respiration rate by altering the
CO2 concentration. At night all C3 plants release CO2 as a byproduct of respiration which
should be evacuated whenever the level exceeds 600 PPM. This will provide an ideal
respiration rate.

How the Ultimate CO2 Manager V5 works
-Just set the desired CO2 concentrations and the controller will automatically.....
-Detect the presence of light and ignite burners or power injection solenoids until your desired
concentration plus 100 PPM is reached and shut off.
-When the concentration drops to 100 PPM less than your setting the burners or solenoids will be
reactivated until the concentration reaches your setting plus 100 PPM.
-The patch cord, which is connected with your exhaust fan, will detect exhaust periods and
automatically interrupt CO2 enrichment.
-When the lights go out the controller will shut off burners and solenoids.
-If the nighttime CO2 concentration rises above 600 PPM the controller will automatically power a
small intake and/or exhaust fan until the concentration drops below 500 PPM.
-When lights go back on the controller will automatically resume to day CO2 enrichment.
